Executive Director of the Hong Kong-based Lion Rock Institute Andrew Work delivered
a passionate speech in support of low and simple
taxes at the Pacific Rim Policy conference on 23
May 2007 in Honolulu, U.S.A.
Criticising protectionism and high taxes as barriers
to trade and economic growth, Mr. Work spoke of
the virtues of free flow of goods and capital, open
trade policy and simple taxation, attributing them
to the success of the Hong Kong economy.
He explained how a “misguided policy”
on taxation can make even a developed country relatively
uncompetitive in international arenas.
The Lion Rock Institute is an NGO that advocates
free market values and practices as well as a partner
organization of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s
Economic Freedom Network.
