Development
and freedom are inseparable. Economic freedom and
overcoming poverty are possible only in a free economic
environment. The Friedrich Naumann Foundation produced
a brochure containing an overview of each annual
conference organised by the network from 1998 to
2006.
While topics of discussions at the EFN Asia Conference
varied from year to year, the conferences were always
conducted based on the same principle: in line with
liberal values and in the spirit of tolerance and
pluralism.
Participants from countries around the world were
free to express vastly different opinions and to
critically analyse and debate existing liberal approaches.
Among the topics discussed at EFN conferences were:
capital mobility, economic freedom in Asia, the
role of government in Asian economies, property
rights in Asia, and preferential trade agreements.
