Indonesia: Video Screening and Discussion on “Islam and Pluralism”
“In my trip during the fasting month Ramadhan from one place to another throughout Indonesia, I have been greeted and hosted by all members of different communities: the Hindu community provided water during my event in East Java, the Buddhist and Catholics community in Wonosobo joined hands in contributing rice for the fasting-breaking dinner. What I want to say is, we are all Indonesians, and difference is the essence of our being as a nation, but in that difference we are united.”
Elections in 2004 and 2009 provided a snapshot of how the candidates compete to win parliamentary seats. One interesting thing is how they identify themselves to be accepted by the voters.
